Vermont's Healthcare Collaborative is made up of 54 employers in hospitals, home health, community health, and long term care, statewide.

Vermont employers needed 1200 RNs annually, while higher education institutions graduate about 400 per year. The opportunity: to create new pathways for people living and working in Vermont's healthcare communities.
In 2022 UVM Medical Center piloted the program, which now provides a pathway for 11 Vermont healthcare employers, with over 217 participants to date, including 52 licensed RNs. Building on this model, next steps are to consider other allied health roles...
A sustainable recycled loan enables employers make repayments to a fund that supports future participants. A financial counselor works with participants to reduce the overall cost before the need for a loan.
